Serving Lingala-Speaking Refugees

Arlette Muyuka has joined the BCNH team of case managers. Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Arlette will be serving the Lingala-speaking portion of New Hampshire’s Congolese Community. Lingala is widely spoken in Congo, being the primary language of the capital region of Kinshasa, but not well represented among the New Hampshire’s refugee service providers. With her addition to the BCNH team, the organization will be able to communicate directly with a growing portion of the state’s refugee community.

Arlette came to Manchester as an asylee from the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2001.  She graduated from Manchester Centeral High School in 2005 and attended Liberty University in Lynchburg VA, where she studied health sciences.  Arlette has worked as a medical assembler and as a home health aide. Now a US citizen, she lives in Haverhill MA with her husband and four children.  Arlette speaks Lingala, French, and English.
