Field Trip!

Sometimes “building community” happens on bus headed to the White Mountains.

On September 17, a beautiful early fall day, 62 New Americans left a parking lot in Manchester on a field trip organized by BCNH in partnership with the White Mountain National Forest and the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest Foundation. Destination: the Discovery Trail off the Kankamaugus Highway and the Pemmigewasset Overlook. Purpose: to introduce BCNH’s clients originally from Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Afghanistan, and Bhutan to a part of their state that few had ever seen. Result: a day of mixing, exploring, and waterfalls. Next up: we are planning five more field trips to the mountains over the next three years.
