Bianca Gentil, Ph.D.

Bianca L. Gentil is an anthropologist and policy expert deeply committed to fostering community resilience, empowerment, and data-based policy solutions. Growing up between Brazil, Peru, and the United States, Bianca developed a unique global perspective and a passion for bridging cultural divides. Her experiences navigating several distinct cultural landscapes inspired her career, which centers on connecting communities to resources and opportunities that enable safe, prosperous, and connected lives.

Bianca’s professional journey spans over a decade of academic research, policy design, and community engagement. As Economic Policy Advisor to California's Lieutenant Governor, she spearheaded initiatives that increased funding accessibility for underserved communities and championed workforce development programs to promote equitable access to sustainable jobs. Her background in anthropology and extensive experience in participatory research enable her to design policies that respect and amplify the voices of diverse stakeholders.

Bianca's multilingual abilities in Portuguese, Spanish, and some conversational Japanese, combined with her technical expertise in data analysis and GIS, have allowed her to address complex challenges with culturally informed solutions. She mentors emerging professionals in public service and is dedicated to using her skills to help immigrant and refugee communities navigate systems, thrive, and build fulfilling lives in their new homes.

Bianca lives in Manchester with her husband. She was elected to the Board in November 2024.
